The International Protection rating (IP) of COMPEX products for electrical panels

All the stainless steel carpentry in the COMPEX catalog for electrical panels are tested by accredited laboratories and have a verified IP protection degree. Below is the summary table of the IP protection degrees of COMPEX products:

RATING PRODUCT CATEGORY
IP66 Enclosure with one solid door CC
IP55 Enclosure with two solid doors CC
IP66 Enclosures with polycarbonate door (lexan) CL
IP66 Hygenic design enclosure CH
IP66 Junction boxes SC
IP66 Modular free-standing enclosures with solid door MC
IP55 Modular free-standing enclosures with two solid doors MC
IP66 Modular free-standing enclosures with polycarbonate door ML
IP66 Compact free-standing enclosures with solid door FC
IP55 Compact free-standing enclosures with two solid doors FC

The IP rating indicated above refer to products as per the catalog, without any holes for housing electronic and electrical components. In the case of punctures, the electronic and electrical components that are used must have suitable characteristics and be installed in an appropriate way to restore the desired IP protection degree.

The IP degree of protection (Ingress Protection Code) is a standard, conferred internationally, used as a tool to underestimate and classify the degree of protection of enclosures for electrical equipment against the intrusion of solid bodies and foreign liquids. It is regulated by the CEI EN 60529/1997 standard and is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission.

The degree of protection is indicated by the fixed term IP and two digits, plus any two additional letters. The first digit indicates the degree of protection of the casing from solid bodies of various sizes while the second indicates the level of protection against the access of liquids. The additional letters are used to indicate the level of protection against human access and the protection of the material adopted. For example, IP66 indicates an enclosure that is totally protected against dust and protected from waves and powerful jets of water.

FIRST DIGIT
Protection against the ingress of solid objects
SECOND DIGIT
Protection against the ingress of liquids
0 Not protected 0 Not protected
1 Protected against solid objects greater than 50mm 1 Protected against vertically falling water drops
2 Protected against solid objects greater than 12mm 2 Protected against dripping water when tilted up to 15°
3 Protected against solid objects greater than  2.5mm 3 Protected against water falling as a spray at angle up to 60°
4 Protected against solid objects greater than 1.0mm 4 Protected against water splashed from any direction
5 Dust protected. Limited ingress of dust permitted. Will not interfere with operation of equipment 5 Protected against water projected by a nozzle from any direction
6 Dust tight. No ingress of dust 6 Protected against heavy seas or water projected in powerful jets
7 Protected against the effects of immersion
